. glistening in the distance. For the more skilled riders, the second loop headed down towards Teagle Wash and then over into the Spangler Hills for the 30 mph special test section which tried with its up and down hills and twisty canyon runs to put everyone . off their minute. The fact that 40 riders were able to stay on their minute can be attributed to the consistent mileage readings that blessed this event. This has been the A riders' biggest complaint in the past so let's . hope the courses stay this correct. One person certainly n~t complaining was Randy Gauvin, who shrugged off his advancement to A rider and won the 250cc class usually belonging to R;andy Liebig. This win the new practically guarantees Yamaha to Gauvin. A good finish in the December Santa Claus enduro and CRC can wrap it up and put it under his tree. Finishing just· ahead of Randy, leading' the Se~iors, was CRC number one, Harry Keast. First B rider was Mark Borst in the Open class, and Roger Gauvin was one second behind him to lead the 250s. Could this be a new brother dynasty to challenge the Palenskes? First small bike was Craig Lair with Jerry Bryan leading the small bike Seniors. For the under 16 riders Jim Loyd turned in another winning ride in the 200s and Jason Ingersoll hustled his 100cc class bike to a first place, losing only one minute, In the other Senior classes Chuck Saxton took Open .B, Ron Webb was first 250cc A, Jim Edmunson,c'aptured anoth~r Open C win; and Bob Burns won the 250cc C. For the first loopers it was 125 C-16 rider' Kenny Trippett overall with Mike McNeal (80cc) close behind. Kathy Herndon led all the women riders by beating Michelle Keast and Jeane Lewis in her last ride as a B. All· the Mini riders are always separated by seconds oply which is quite a feat for flying so close to the ground. C.RC thinks they are all deserving of a trophy and will prove it by giving out 100 % trophies at the Sama Claus enduro in Lucerne Valley, Dec. 9. Lay away a little. ; I: /' ~ E Think ahead. VIEW, CA 94043 By Ron Lawson CORONA, CA, NOV. 16 The Expert turnout was on the light side at Corona Raceway last Friday, but the sportsmen were out in force and the racing was close. One class that wasn't close, however, was rhe Open Intermediate class where Don Glover (Yam) hooked up to take two wins. In round one, Hauns Stiene (Mai) of Malcolm Smith's took the lead in the early. section of the race, but Glover flew past and instantly opened a huge lead. Stiene went on to finish second while Wayne Martin took third on his Husky. . . In the next race it was again Glover on top, but this time with an even bigger lead. Stiene was in second briefly, but mechanical troubles put him out of the race and from there Robert Casper (Yam) took the position. Roland Wood (SUI) was third and the overall results read Glover, Casper and Martin. • In the 250cc Intermediate class, Kinny Jones (Hon) made his return to the local MX ·scene.
