It was close but Manning captured the win over McCuistion on his new Kawasaki 250 while Ron Turner of Luft Shocks was in third. Turner wasn't able to make any money in this contest yet had his success in the 125cc Pro class. His teammate Bob Marino was the fourth place finisher in this race but like Turner he scored elsewhere, taking the top money in the tough 500cc Pro class. s~~1. (j) r-.. (j) r-.. II II every Friday night motocross program and this time they allowed all of the ladies to go through the gates absolutely freel All of the big guns were in. the 250cc Pro class including Ron Turner, Bob Marino, Jerry Raymer and Gary Jones! And out of these hot riders who do you think won? The overall money winner turned out to be Jerry Raymer of Rialto. The Rocket Rex Enterprises' racer was on the move in the first moto and was just barely ahead of Curt McCuistion. Gary Jones held off the rest of the line-up which included David Barberto and Bob Marino. Both Raymer and McCuistion had their share of trouble in the final moto. Raymer was in the lead when McCuistion became daring and tried to pass on a sweeper behind the scorer's booth, but he ended up on the ground. Marino got by because of this and when Curt started racing again he was going all out and collided with another rider while flying off of a jump in mid-air. Soon another rider, Scott Kinnier, fell on a sweeper and he rolled off to the side of the track because of all of the oncoming traffic. Raymer appeared as if he had the win in the bag when he staned to get a little sloppy on the same sweeper that Curt fell on. Marino was right there and just waiting for Jerry to make a mistake and when this happened he made the pass. So in this moto it was Marino, Raymer and McCuistion. Raymer's 1·2 score earned him the overall money ahead of McCuistion who is on his way to becoming a well· known CMC rider because of his super performance in both the King of the Hill and the 250cc Pro evenu. Bob Marino was third overall on the payoff list and suffered from his first moto fifth. The riders put on a good display of racing and the King of the Hill race was particularly good. A few other riders were able to try their hand at this race this time and a new winner arose. The riders start right in front of the score booth and wage war against one another for two laps as they ride the track backwards. A couple of last week's winners were not on hand and both Tim Lunde and Tony Wanket did not ride in this special event even though they qualified. Scott Manning is one of the hottest 125cc Pro riders around and he rides a Suzuki for Redlands Suzuki. Manning was on the gas and when the riders blasted off of the line he grabbed the lead. His bike powered him around the track just fine and he led the bigger machines in winning style. Scott was leading the whole time and was a sure bet to win the prize money. Then on the last lap as he flew over the final finish line jump, Curt McCuistion approached However, the rider turnout was just fine and the word is really going around about this Thursday night R.A.C.E. Motocross at OCIR. Several of the other main nighttime tracks are getting ready to shut down because of the coming winter rainy months. This program will attempt to go through the whole year round. The only thing that will stop a race will be a special holiday or a parking lot that is so flooded that nobody could drive through. The 250cc Pro class was v.ery competitive and a visitor was here this evening by the name of Carlo Musso. Carlo is an out of state rider and drove from Louisiana so that he could race in the three race AMA series that has been going on. At the same time he wanted to try some other local racing, and did quite well. But Mark Marinez is blowing everyone away in this class and he did just that tonight by taking the first overall win. He found Musso on his Kawasaki to be quite competitive but this did not hold him back. Todd Peterson was successful in the first moto but was out of it in the second so this killed his overall chances. Instead Marinez was first ahead of Rick Stout who had a ~-2 score which edged out Musso, who placed third. Results MINI NOV: 1. Chrio Sparka CKew). MINI BEG: 1. qaw CorDlt lVam); 2. !'lui _ IVam); 3.
