Everyone who was in the lead seemed to be falling and this included Newton Acevedo of the Mini class right up to fast and smooth riders like Tim Lunde and Todd Peterson in the Pro races. As a rule Acevedo stays mounted on his Suzuki with no problem but when he came around a sharp corner tonight, he hit hard. This killed his chances of doing well in the Mini Junior class so Lonnie Livingston, Johnny Whitsett and Dan Sw~n were the top three ove.rall. Steve' Postlewaite won the competitive 12Scc Intermediate class. Most of the usual names were involved yet the class was somewhat small with only nine contestants. Steve won both times out but almost lost the final moto. Angel Montoya turned his bille into a road block and joined the club of riders who were falling left and right. Montoya dropped his Suzuki one comer before the finish line and actually stopped Postlewaite from getting by. Steve had to maneuver his bike around this obstacle and got it back together just in the nick of time because Tim Shelton was on his way. Postlewaite won overall in front of Shelton, Mille Nishita, Mitch Davis, and Angel Montoya. It is very rare that you will ever see Tim Lunde take a nose dive because he is so smooth and has every track wired. Well, somehow he did fall in the fint moto. Maybe part of the reason is that Ascot used the 'dozer and added a few modifications. Anyway Lunde unloaded off of his bille on the series of smal1 jumps before the second comer. He may have messed up in this first moto but good, yet made up fOT it in the final moto by taking fint. Todd Peterson won the first moto but did not ride the last round, so this gave Gregg Waldrup a chance to win the 125cc Pro class overall with his fine 2·S score. Dave Hamada was second overall in front ofJohn ChwastyIt, Ross Maeda, who fell once in the first moto, David Nakamura, Bryan Jordan, Bill Myers, and Tim Lunde. • 30 HOURS, 1259 LAPS, 1888 MILES AND ONE SET OF PLUGS LATER, HOT "U" EXPLODES THE MYTH THAT ALL PLUGS ARE CREATED EQUAL.
