from sixth at the start. snatched the
lead at that point with Pete Wanket
(Yam) and Gerig in arrears. not more
thah a few bikelengths apart at any
time.
Carving his way through the crowd.
however. came Chip Howell (Hus) who
came from the tail end to zap both
Wanket and Gerig on the last lap.
In the second mota. Gerig and
Carlos Serrano (Mai) tossed the lead
back and fonh like a hot spark plug.
Robertson sat in third for the first half
of the mota before starting his move.
He managed to work into the lead
by lap eight. Bad luck hit, though,
when his bike threw its chain on the
uphill the following lap.
Wanket came up at that point to
give Gerig a \lard time as Serrano
dropped back. He put the move on
Gerig just before the uphill on lap 12
and went on for the win followed by
Gerig, Robertson, Alan Smith (Hus)
and Steve Walker (Yam).
