As all the two loopers headed out onto their second run around the course, they discovered that the second loop didn't head out towards the bomb, but instead led across the tracks where the riders went over trails not run on the first loop, through check 'four, and then back across the tracks "to pick up the first loop course~ This was a new and challenging innovation to the old" run-of-the-mill hare scrambles and the Dusters should be congratulated on their creativeness. ." Ogilvie still led the roaring herd but 1594 had dropped back to seventh overall with Zarp and Zajic each moving up a place. The battle continued to rage between 157lx and Baum as they came flying into check four. Once back on the familiar first loop the riders settled in to move up whenever the dust and trail would allow. A breeze had come up,making the heat tolerable. Ogilvie flew .through the pits for the second time with the greatest ease, having cushioned himself with a very comfortable lead over second place Greg Thomas, who himself had stretched out equally as long a lead OYer the third spot. Greg seems to fmally really be coming into his own while his brother, Cliff, who had such a fabulous first half year, is now experiencing one breakdown after another. Park held on to third overall, second 2.50cc while Zajic was closing in on him after Zarp dropped out. In fifth overall was John Foster(first "C"), riding for AI Baker, with always threatening Saltzman close behind in the sixth ,overall slot. Number 594 held on to the seventh spot while Doig had moved well on the second loop, finishing with first overall Senior honors just ahead of first Veteran IV646. Hamill herd onto the 10th overall spot throughout the entire race and 'finished second "C" Expert, while young showman Donnie Morrison, moved up behind him, finishing first Amateur "C". Donnie can always be spotted with the bright red Midas Racing shirt and his distinctively creative riding style. Consistant Checker member Veriin Van Zee (Heavyweight Expert) was 12th overall followed by 1111lx. "Doc" Moms Norman moved up for a 21st ovenll spot in the pits to 14th overall, second Senior Heavyweight. First 250cc Vet honors went to Monty Lee (another AI Baker rider)', making this his fourth or fifth first-inClass for him in as many races. Kelly Wiseman was first gal in the 28th overall spot with Trudy Beck earning the second spot. Trudy's little brother, Oren, Jr. did some real he-man riding on the second loop as he overpowered Andelman and moved up from 59th overall to 47th. Meanwhile Ande1man was moving too, finishing 51st overall, seven spots better than on the first loop. Number 571x and Baum held their first and second Novice" spots to the very end where #571x had finally managed to get a little distance between himself and Baum. After all the dust settled super fast star Dan Ashcraft was seen sporting a special air splint on his arm. Rescue 3 felt quite sure he had broken his arm. An apology goes out to the Amateurs and Novices who won their classes. No final results were available at press time and the unofficial lap sheets were not detailed. • Six time Gold Medalist Carl Cranke likes the adjustability of WORKS shocks. "I installed the WORKS SUPERCROSSERS on a factory SWM I had never seen befOre and I adjusted them to the bike. They worked perfectly the 1st day and they were working just as perfectly the 6th day. The course was one of the roughest 1've ridden, but the ride was fantastic:' GO FOR ftIE . . . . . . .
