JULY 15 Last Friday night Craig Roloff got aU pumped up and won his heat in fine style (Ward Ring won the other), and in the Open. Main it looked lilte just maybe "01' Wardy" was in for his first loss of the TT season. But no. after 15 laps of close action it was still Ring at- the checkered flag with the young challenger Roloff in second. Hey. loolu like no one on the horizon will stop Ring and his thumper Yamaha this year - any ideas. any of you guys out there. the next TT race is Friday night the 17th of August. Sid Carlson came up with the best passing job of the night as he came from a second row stan for a closing third at the checlter to funher solidify his hold on second in the point standingJ. In the 125cc TT. run moto-style. Sid's boy. "Walin' Woody" Carlson. talked MX racing buddy Tim Theordore into coming out. That it was almost Woody's undoing as Theodore adapted very quickly to the prepared-track style racing and almost did the deed with a tie- breaker finish! Carlson was extended to the very last la.p before making a quick' pass for the wIn. Best race of the ATC classes was the115-152cc Modified class where Sam Cae took a wild tie- breaker win over Perry Thompson with first year rider Frank Pesta giving them both fits before fading to the third spot. Every Friday night thousands of race fans are motoring on out to the Orange Show Fairgrounds in San Bernardino. American Raceways. along with the Continental -Motosports Club are the promoters of this successful show of two-wheeled competition which is featuring 50 to . 500cc mot9CToss machinery.
