lines. The weather in the PonlandVancouver area had been very dry for
many weeks. The track had two days
of water on it and it still got dry.
When the 125cc Pros cam~ to the
line it was a go for it track. Randy
Wing (Kaw) got the holeshot and
actually still had it by the time he flew .
by the Gresham Toyota tower. The
next time around was a different story
as Jimmy Anderson. Longview Suzuki,
spun past to hold the lead to the flag.
Dave Didier. MX Performance.
came up to hold second and chase
Anderson. Steve Pless. Freds Cyc)e
Center. rode steady to take the third
spot. Mike McCormick. Yamaha of
Salem. managed to work up to a
founh by the motos end.
The second moto saw Jimmy
Anderson get the good start and he
railed his machine all the way to the
flag. Anderson didn't miss a bc!at as he
took the checkered flag for a )-) day.
Tim Michletsch took a second and
Mike McCormick put in a top flight
day for the third place money.
The fint 250cc Pro moto was a
heart breaker for Jim Anderson. He
had his Suzuki smoothly flying over the
terrain as he steadily built up a strong
lead over the pack. One lap from the
end the transmission went out and that
was it. parksville. Meanwhile, Tim
M~chletsch (Yam) was running in
second place and assumed command
to take the moto. Lonnie Musick (Hus)
and Clay Azar (Yam) dived to the flag
with Azar getting the spot. Arne
Hettman (Hon) ran a super good
fourth place this moto.
The second go· round was different.
Tim Michletsch got tangled in an off
the line crash, which took him out for
the molO, and opened the door for
some other names. Anderson was out
with a broken tranny and Hellman.
along with Jansen. took this
opportunity as a sure signal to go for
it. They did and things were hot till
the seventh lap when Hellman broke
and Jansen was able to expand his lead
over the second place rider, Kevin
Meyers, who went for it to bc!at out
Rich Binckley at' the flag. It was a
slightly different 250cc Pro moto for
the locals to watch. Jansen is coming
on strong. A few more rides like that
one and he'll be giving the regular
winners fits.
The Open Pro class saw Tim
Michletsch beat Monty Mitchell.
Gresham Suzuki. on a Husky for first
overall. Both motos saw Mitchell out
front for many laps before Tim
