EspecialIy when you throw in an equalizer like Southern California adobe turned 10 deep , gooey muck by several inches of rain . That's what more than 350 Juniors and Intermedia tes faced in the open ing race of the Continental MOIO ' Sport Club's Golden Sate Series at Saddleback's back track . Like they say , you must first finish to finish first. Mark Anderson (Yam) showed the rest of Division One of the 500cc Interm ediate class how it was done by seem ingly ignoring the wet stuff and letting everyone else flounder in his w~ke while on his wa y 10 the first moro win . Anderson a lm ost dropped it in turn two of the second rnot o when his front en d washed ou t. Kevin Duffy (Yam) took advantage of th e situation and squirted into the lead . However. Anderson quickly got his rhythm back. passed Duffy ncar the end of th e seco nd lap and went on to win uncontest ed with Duffy fin ishing second. Wilson made a run a t Rawding on the last lap straight , almost ca tc hi ng him on the fin al two jumps. W ilson got th e win in m oto two , though , for th e overa ll. Michael O'Neal (Suz ), wh o ea rned third in moto one , improved things with a second for th e overall runner-up. Rawd ing dropped 10 ninth , st ill good enough for third overall. Tom Mastrusimone (C ·A) let his consistent riding work to his advantage in Division T wo. After th e early leaders took themselves out in the mudhole on lap two of the first m oto, he inherited the lead , appa rently to his own surprise , keeping it all the way . Brian Pitzen (Yam) made up a Il?t of . ground on Mastrusimone, but ran out
