So was Rick Otto, who had previously won the Perpetual trophy and had his name on this one twice , but along with rwo dozen others, it was just about wide open leadi ng down to an IS ·man main and biggest drag race you might ever see at a flat track. John Tavis had the jump going on his JT Triumph, but pulled the wheel up and got lost in the pack as Rod Spencer and the Martin Cyc1!= Machine/Nlf-sparked Yamaha took the point and never relinquished it despite good riding from Graham and second place finishing Matt Rohr on the Harry Lillie-tuned Matts Generator Yamaha. Graham spun his way to third on his RG racing, Matts Muffler/NO Yamaha. Tavis recovered to take fourth over O regon's Pete Simonsen and Eric Weisler managed to keep his eyes open for the sixth trophy, despite a big night of partying . Sidehacks were not abundant , but did a good showcase of racing with Keith Butterfield winning with chair person Ch uck Myers am using the fans by flashing peace signs and waving in ominous places like waving over the jump, turning backwards down the straight and dual peacers flashing. Loreto Masella with passenger Bill Bryan were awarded second with yet another Butterfield in from Fresno for third. Scram bles 80 EX: I . Doug ChondIer lVom); 2. Kurt ChondIer lVam) 3. Bill Joyce (Suz) made a rare appearance Sunday and gave Jim Anderson (Suz) fits all day in the 125cc Pro bash. Moto one found Kevin Lane (Suz) and Joyce out front. Jim took the lead in the second lap as Bill moved by Cropper. It became a three way ba ttle led by Anderson for several laps before he fluffed his way back to third. La ne led the group for a lap, but yielded first to Jo yce, then Anderson. The last four laps found Anderson pulling out all the stops, finally slipping by Joyce in the final lap.
