DeGaine took full advantage when Dooley ran in to trouble on the first lap to move to second as did Allied-sponsored Suzuki rider MickJacobs who moved to third. On the third lap DeGaine fell to the finger of fate and dropped from second to fifth . Cross Up rider Matt Devich found himself in the third place slot in the rotating front runners. By lap four Devich had moved by Jacobs to put himself within striking distance of Rose . Rose held Devich off for two more la ps before Devich found a hole and took over first . It was a good effort on the part of Rose to come back on Devich but time ran out and he had to settle for second. Mick Jacobs picked up third. The second moto again saw Rose break on top with Jacobs in second and Joe Price of Crown Cycle in third . Chris Saunder was running fourth and Devich was back in fifth . Jacobs got by Rose on the first lap to take over the lead and Devich moved to fourth where they held order for two laps when Jacobs ran into trouble and Rose picked up the pieces and Price found himself in second with Devich third. Jacobs was out of the hunt far down in the pack. Rose pulled a runaway on the rest of the field and Price did a fair piece of riding, holding Devich at bay for two more laps before Devich got around him . W ith one lap to go the places stayed intact and Rose and Devich ended the evening in a tie for first. Rose claimed the win with his higher finish in the second moto. Devich was second and Price (4-3) third. Gary Ogden, the FMF rider, is getting his bike legs back and romped home with two firsts to top the 250cc Pros. In the first moto Dale Bohm , riding for Plaza Cycle, was off second with Team DG 's John Greenway in third and Can-Am mounted Don Glover fourth . Phil Thorsrensen, riding for Honda of Corona , made the first move as he got around Glover on the first lap to move to fourth . It took until the fourth lap before Danny Burtt got things sorted out and he got a break when Glover's Can-Am became sick , ' so instead of moving up one spot, he picked up two as Rick Cavish became his victim . From there on out it was Ogden, Greenway. Thorstensen and Burtt. Ogden was off and running at the drop of the gate in the second moto . and again it was Bohm in second with Ray Yoakum in third and Greenway fourth . The second lap found Yoakum dropped from th ird to fifth as Greenway and Burtt moved up the ladder. Greenway got by Bohm on th e third lap and took up the chase for Ogden who was tripping th rough the hills like most of us walk down the street. Burtt got closer to the hunt on the. fifth lap as he picked off Bohm to go to third . At this point everybody went on the defensive and no one was able to pass anyone and no one made a mistake. At the checkered it was Ogden, Greenway and Burtt with the overall the same. Paul Sedler topped Gary Faulks both moros to win the Open Pro class . 8 DAIDD o o o o bre ezed to an Open GP win at a Manning road ra ce. ~ o o o o o Mallone~ I 8 ANI) REMEMBER: OAIOO/0 .1.0 motorcycle chain is used by more top racing competitors than any other chain .
