Sunday's motocross a t McAllen Su per-Mi ni was all Floyd Robb i.is' , as he pulled the field by four to five seconds on his Yama ha 80 . T he 100cc cl ass sho wed a new face , but a regu lar dice in first as R ussel Gage (Suz) pro ved what he co ul d do with new machinery . H e led th e field in both m otos with T im Obst (Suz) seco nd, Alb ert Alaniz (Ya m ) showed his stuff in both m ot os by com ing from behind , sett ling for thi rd over a ll. Second was Jackie Matthews (Su z) with Oscar Quintanilla (Su z) th ird a nd Jimmy Capt (Hon) fourth , 'T he combined 250 cc /Open sa w Rod Womack (Hon) and Doug Bagwell (Yam) battle for the lead a ll through both motos, with Womack com ing out on top and Bagwell sett ling 'fo r second . Hector Buatista (Suz) 'was also in close behind the front runners until his 'shift lever fell off in the second moto and kept him bac k a t third ~verall. On Sunday, Top Fuel sta rted off with Annesley improving on his Saturday mark with th e fast est T F ever turned at an all -cycle event with a 7.796-185 .56 to defeat the double T riumph of Duke McDonald. In the seco nd pairing, Marion Owens continued his seven -second barrage with a stout 7.928 -174.4 1 against Randy Williams . On the final , Annesley wheelied out of the ga te , bounced the front end twice a nd hung on with the throttle screwed to the stop for quickest Top Fuel final in Dragbike history and the fastest speed in all -cycle drag racing history 7.892-185,95 with the Owens Harley just a' hairsbreadth behind at a thundering 8.094 -177 .86 mph.
