MAY 24 El Ca pitan High School picked up two firsts and three seconds compared to Santana's one second and two thirds bu t lost 16 points in the 1978 Coca Cola/San Diego High School MX Series point r a ce at Speedway 117 last Wednesday night. With two programs left in th is yea r's series, it appears that Santana will repeat as the champions due to a good , solid 10-12 rider team effort each week . The feeling is tha t Santana will be a very strong representative in the Scholastic Association of Motocross/Continental Mote -sports Club State Championships at Saddleback on June 3. Outstanding individua l riders going to Saddleback appear to includ e Tracy McMillen and Keith Finch of second -place EI Ca pitan; Clint Hardick and Woody Carlson of thi rd-place Monte Vista , and Chris "Hurricane" Harrold and Rich' Agu ndez of fou rt h-place Morse Hi gh , pl us David Gerig and Lee Ramage of la te-st a rting seventh-place T orrey Pines High. .;' The 125 a nd 25 0cc Pros again p rod uced th e fireworks with LGS mount ed Mike T ri pes gra b bi ng his secon d straight 125cc class win over a loaded field with FMF rider Rand y Hess second and Ma rt y Moat es third. Moates (H on) come .back for a tiebreaker second moto win in t he 250s over high school rider David Gerig , who in turn took the 500cc cla ss over EI Capitan High rider Steve Walker . It was repeat cit y in the Intermediate classes with Matt Carter of Mission Bay High taking his seventh 500cc Intermediate win and Scott Meyer of Crewford taking his second straight in the 125cc class. Chris "H u rrica ne" Harrold of Morse High came back for a 250cc class win over last week's winner Rick Relucio . The ou tstanding J unior rider again was EI Capitan's Tracy McMillen, who went four-for-four in taking a 125cc J unior a nd the 500cc J u nior classes in runaway victories. In other Junior competition, 100cc class rider Gary Rod rigu ez go t tired of ru nn ing seco nd and blas ted Monte Vista rider Dan Tron for a tie -breaker second moto overall win .
