T he soggy condition of the track d idn't seem 10 bot her Bob Ma xwell a nd his Bill's Cycle Ma ico . He too k ihe com bined Expert cl ass b y storm . run nin g awa y with both m o tos , Bill Lust rick (S uz) was t he on ly co m pe ti tion . but eve n he couldn' t keep up with Maxw ell's pace. Pa t .Flyn n took th e 250cc Pros on h is Yamah a ah ead of Ma rk McPerry (Ya m) . The real exc ite men t was in t he Sportsman classes. R ob ert R usse ll (Yam ) ca me ou t on top of a large 250cc Beginner cla ss with a 1-3 -1 score . In the first moto , he got th e holeshot , but wa s soo n passed by Rafael Grijolva (Ya m) . The muddy co nd itio n of th e tra ck made it an ext remely tiring race and soon Grijolva found himself running low on endurance .
