T hese two ca ree ned through 'the berms side by side with Nicol sliding ou t in hot pursuit , th en m oving b y. N icol went down and Asher gra bbed t h ird place back again . Nicol , jumping back into the race , grabbed it back. These two never say d ie! Heading into the checkered flag Jannings was still in pursuit of Taylor but couldn't catch him in time and had to settle for second with Asher now b ack in th ird , ho ld ing Nicol in fourth. The second tim e around Asher led th e pack up the hill . then in trouble with his bike , had to relinquish the lead to Nicol. J annings was holding down second with Taylor in third . In the overall orde r Jannings took home top money for th e n ight , Taylor was second overall and th ird went to Nicol. Resul ts in Results Sect ion. Jannings once mo re est ab lishe d himself in th e lead as Claire had . his h ands fu ll fighting off Ron Haase and Moates. Haase made his move and took over second. He had Mo ates traveling fast behind h im . moving into th ird and pushing Claire back to fourth. By th e end of the ra ce Jannings carried h is lead across the lin e for th e overa ll win , Moates took second and Claire th ird overall . The 125 Juniors Division I. roared off the line for a night of heavy racing. with Rick Miller (Suz· AI Bake r ) emerging the victo r, winning back to ba ck . In the first rnoto , Miller moved out int o the lead. He had Danny Diaz (Suz- Airco ne ) breathing down his j ersey and threatening him . Paul Arnold was holding down third . The t h r ee front -runners held their positions down to the line. The second time off the line Miller again took over. This time he had Ed Ho (Su z-Wrench R&D) beh ind him and Arnold ho lding down the third place slot. Miller began to pull out a lead as Diaz moved on into third . Diaz was closing ground on Ho and pushing h im relentlessly. Almost getting by, Diaz go t sh aky and had to sett le for t hird . Converging on the finish line , al mos t a triple photo finish , Miller took the overall win, Di a z secon d overall and third went to Eric Flynn who had a 4- 5 ride. Andy Jannings came back for his second win of the night in the 250 Pro , Cross Up , Inc.'s DannyJean (Suz) returned to CRe DeAnza to take first overall money in the 250 Pro class . His win , however , was not without some sti ff com pe ti tion from Dave Eropkin, who was riding a White Br os. Yamaha . When th e rubberband popped for moto on e , the two were side-by-sid e shooting through the first turn . Falling in behind wer e Dave Ohl (Suz) , Bill Pelto ( Ya m) and Robbie Br a n d ( Ya m ). The way th at Jean and Eropkin were going at it , it looked as though they would wear themselves o u t in a few laps. They d idn't , however. and a ll through th e race they were dicing it out , usually with Jean holding a slight edge. . As the race continued. the two leaders stretched out more and more of a lead. Ohl , in the meantime , had his hands full holding down third place. Brand had gotten around Pelto and was trying to move up another space. He managed to do so on lap seven , pushing Ohl back to fourth . Then it was Pelto's turn to pressure the Suzuki pilot , but Ohl managed to hold him off to the end of the race. At the checkers , it was Jean . followed closely by Eropkin then Brand and O hl , When moto two got underway, it was Jean once more in front . Pelto , Eropkin , Br a n d and O hl followed right b ehind. On lap three, Pelto dropped out. lea ving Eropkin, once more , to battle with J ea n . W ith in no time, the Suzuk i and Yamaha ride rs were going at it again . Throughout the race , Eropkin tried in vain to grab th e lea d , but once more , Jean took the win . The over all st a nd ings went J ean , Eropkin, and Bra nd . For th e sevent h week in a row , Ohl fin ished o ne place out of the money.
