As th e gate dropped in the first moto , Bobby Simmons was first off th e lin e . Brewis , Dane Walsh and Ron Casey were at his rear in a battle for second. un til Brewis broke away to go after Simmons. The two pulled from th e pack. b ut Sim m ons managed to keep ., in fro nt for ' the moto win . Walsh had Casey shadowing him . but held on 10 I third . John Simmons , David W ebb ('" and Br ett Linden fought for fifth , but r as the trio rod e fen der to fe nder over the tower jump. Danny Lamb charged around with a strong grip on third. Sou za and Buck ra llied in the turns . but Buck kept in front. When Souza had trouble in th e rower turn . OCT. 30 Attracted by CRC's "Trophy Day," the Over the Hill Gang competed on the Marty Smith designed track , b ut this time running it backwards . Accepting one of CRC's large first place trophies was Exp ert class winner, R athole Rocky (Yam) . who fought his way to the lea d in the first lap of each moto and stayed out front to th e ch eckers, Ch asing Rock y. but not being able to close the gap . was Dippy Del (Aardvark) who bro ught u p second place followed by Corroded Carlos (Mai) and Stubby Steve (Yam) . The amateurs once again shared the' track with the experts and also CRC's Vets . which made the race interesting to watch. Du Du Dan (Yam) was first into the tight turn from the starting gate and stayed in front of the pack, go ing 1-2 in his motos for first. In rnoto two it was Delicate Dennis who came across th e lin e first b ut had 'to settle for a second overa ll. Ruptured Rusty and Flakey Frank brought up th ird and fourth. Th e interm ediat es. a bunch o f u npredictable. evenly m atched riders , went off the line 16 strong. Scrabby Skip , on h is flashy n ew Montesa was first to the checkered in moto one, but had to bow to firs t overall winner Nauseous Norm (Kaw) who went 2-2. Varmit Vic (Suz) garnered t hird place , staying ahea d of h ard driving Slimy Steve (Yam) who was fourth ahead of Deco m posed Da n (Yam ). O ne m ight ask , "Who was first in the second moto?' Ba ng Ba ng Bobo , that's who! A b roken throttle cable in moto one resulted in a DN F. The Novice class was d ominated by ready-to -be-moved-up Droopy Dick (Yam ) who went 1-2 . outdistancing his classm a tes. Chiseler Chuck (Yam) was able to take seco nd pl ace wh en Buggs Bill co u ld n 't come OUI for moto two because of a broken engi ne casing. Taking th ird pla ce was Downhill Dave (Suz) who went 4 -3 . Sump Sonny brought up fourth ahead of Lots Les, Resu lts in Resu lts Section. Jannings two for two at AM£ night MX .
