CHP to register ORVs at Ocotillo Wells The California Highway Patrol (CH P) and the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will hold a two -day registra tio n program for off-high way vehicles in th e Ocotillo W ells area over the Mem orial Day weekend . fr om both Representa tives Dep a rt m en ts will be at Ocotillo Wells the afternoon of Friday, May 27: all day Sa turday, May 28; and u ntil midafternoon on Sunday. May 29 . to assist owners in registering their off-highway vehicles . T his special program is for offhighway vehicles only and is designed to save off-highway vehicle owners at least two trips to DMV or CH P offices when regist eri ng their vehicles. In some cases . the entire registration procedure can be accomplished a t the scene. Off-highway vehicles owners will be able to co mplete the necessary forms , pay registration fees and receive-their off-highway stickers, or ob tain operation permits enabling t hem to legally operate the vehicles wh ile co m p leti ng registration . Highway Pa trol Officers will be on ha nd to verify a nd assign ide ntification numbers a nd assist vehicle owne rs with other questions or p ro b lems , No enforcement action will be ta ken against owners or operalOrs of off- h igh way vehicles voluntarily coming to the inspection site for advice or information.
