Davis By Jack Siegrist IRVING. TX. FEB . 13 Bruce Hallmark and Billy Smith diced for 50 miles to spearhead the Pro Classes at County Line Cycle Park's second Pro Cross Dallas. TX 75211 Big "0" Cycle Country event of 1977. Hallmark took the 250 class lead from the start. and wrestled the overall lead from "First Lap" Philip Hargrove on the third lap. Hargrove was the eventual winner of the Open Pro class . In hot pursuit of Hallmark were Jeff Kring and Billy Smith. With only two laps to go. Kring. who held second place at the time, ran out of gas and was relegated to a sixth-place finish. Smith came through the checkpoint to start his final lap into the woods. had second thoughts about his own gasoline situation. came back and gassed himself up - still finishing only two minutes behind Hallmark. TheOpen Expert class also featured a 50 mile duel between good friends and arch rivals Bill Alstrin and Bob Pope.
