'N ew Zealanders Ivan Mauger and Barry Briggs each have four World Championships to their credit. while their ' teammates Peter Collins and Anders Michanek are the 1976 and 1975 Champions. Champion Mike Bast. Acting as sideline coach anti team manager for the Am eri cans is Sonny Nutter. The equalizer in this contest is Southern California's short tracks, and the specialized style necessary to ride them . It was on tracks of 180 yards or less. ' like Costa Mesa , that the Americans in 1975 dealt the invaders a stinging defeat -- a first in th e histo ry of the test match series. Only at Irw indale is the length and character of the track more nearly like th e European circuits. For this year.
