The Lone Pine Enduro is run on lands bordering the north shore of Owens Lake, just about 15 miles south of Lone Pine. While it 's still desert, the terrain is different from the southern Mojave in its barren rugged way . The other sweep rider stayed and watched as each one then did the deed in turn. From there the course wound aro un d I and hit a couple of interesting sand hills and headed back into the pits for beer and gas. The only . incident to mar the 1 organization of the event was that the band didn't make it for the trophy presentation and Jamboree at "Dirty J Sock" on Saturday night. "Dirty Sock" is a sulfur hot springs about four 'm iles from the pit area where the Saturday party was planned As it turned out, a good loud stereo provided by SRA No. 1 Jim Burd did the job adequately, but many locals who don't do it to bands very often would rather have had the Beatles, Well, maybe next year. • Buffington bushwhacks South Bay By James Brammer SAN DIEGO, CAL.,JULY 3 Driving into the comers with great force, causing the bike to skitter sideways through the turns, 17year old Bryan Buffington won c: "' z CI J lC 16 "' lC i the Scratch Main at South Bay Park Speedway Saturday night.
