T.J. had the start of the second mota wired, but unfortunately he didn't have the first tum wired and crashed. After all the co m mo ti o n , Dave Crawford came through with the lead, followed by Lampe and Hickerson. Crawford eventually let Lampe by but when Hickerson moved up to challenge he said "no". T.J . went wide open to make up for his crash and passed four riders on the first lap . By the last lap he was right on Bruce King's rear tire, but couldn't get by, an d finished a creditable fifth to give him fourth overall. Chuck Lampe took the win with a perfect 1·1 score. J show. Tamietti stalled in mota one, which gave Mark Martinez (Mai) the lead, but Tamietti regained his composure and rode on to win the mota. Tamietti again captured mota . two with Martinez placing second. The final tabulation proved Tamietti the overall winner, Martinez second and Steve Potts (Mai) third. Mike Bell brought out a top secret 440cc Honda and again blew off the other 500 Pros. Bell rode his own race in mota one but the big Maico man , Luke Messer, gave Bell a run for his money in the next . Open Expert Gary Hickerson (Hus) looked like his old self today as he led the way and began to pull away. T.J. Warren worked up through the pack o n a rare 360 Montesa t8 settle for second. Bob Brawner (Kaw) finished third and Tom Pulver (Kaw ) fourth. The second mota again found Gary's Husky in the lead, but T.J . quickly moved past Pulver and Brawner and began to pressure Hickerson. T.J . was really srnokin ' . it when he .p assed Hickerson and moved into t he lead , but glory doesn't last forever. T.J . found that out two laps later when he ate it. Hickerson won easily, followed by Warren and Brawner. . Ch uck Lampe (Kaw) , fresh off the National circuit, showed everyone what he has learn ed by pulling a ho leshot in the first 250 Expert mota. T.J . Warren (Man) was in second with Dave Crawford (Suz) and Bret Muldner (CZ) fighting it out for third . Morgan Fisher (Han) following through with the trend finished third in both motos for third overall. At the end of the 125 Junior race things seemed to be painted red as Mike .Wa tso n , Peter Sabat and Allan Hoover all crossed the line riding new red framed Hondas. The overall results weren't decided until the last lap, in favor of Watson, after a race long battle with the other riders which anyone of them was capable of winning.
