The end result is to be an ORV plan for San Diego County which I hope will include both tr ails and are as ! fo r vehicular re creat ion. The County's · mo ney from th e "green sti ckie " fund will be used to cover the co st of salaries for co unty planners. This sure be ats the Sheriff getting it all, doesn' it? The two injured riders (on e fa ta lly) were no t doing wheelies, crossups, er c., or anything else of a 'showoff' n ature . I was seated ab out 3 0 feet from the spo t where No. 125 br oke hi s arm an d w ithin good visual ra nge of th e other. In ne ither instance was t he cras h du e to sho wo ff tactics. These (an d all the o ther) bo ys were riding hard. Perhaps a little t o o hard. Bu t , I rese nt the inference th at t heir injuries we re cau sed from 'showoff' racing. It seems the BI..M has info rmed Nev ada ca ttle ranch er s that no mo re low co st f ederal land will be opened for ca ttle grazing. The ran chers wen t beserko! They are in th e n ews and on T V hounding st ate officials, a nd threatening to sue BLM to have th eir powers cu rbe d. Also (I th ink) th ey have had a protest aud ience with Pre sid ent Fo rd . All this in the span of about three weeks. Maybe bikers co u ld learn some pointers or even (he aven forbid) ally ouselves with the ran che rs of t'le. w st Gee , Terry, if y ou weren't at th e Ride -On Enduro camp th e evening of Jan. 31, you missed " Port rait of a Champion ".
