T wenty -six signed in for th e spe edy S.I.R. night MX By Sue Sykes KENT, WASH., AUG. 13 Honda m ounted Gary Racca did it again at S.I.R! Racca claimed both motos of the 125 Pro class - a repeat of last week's action. It has only been about three weeks since Gary got rid of a knee cas t (result of a June injury) and the fans are glad to see him back in action again and ready for the AMA Amateur qualifiers. In both motos Racca got the lead from the opening turn and never was in trouble. The riders tangled first time out in that tum and a few stopped to get a closer look. Bill J o yce (Ha n ) followed Racca for five laps then Lee Voss (Suz) took over second. Voss came back the next mota well enough for second overall and J oe Brown claimed third overall with a fourth and a fifth . Blaine. Elledge (CA) won mota one of the 250 Pro division and then took a second for first overall. Elledge was pressing Rick Benek (Pen) for eight laps in that opener - then Benek stopped with mechanical troubles long enough o n the back jum p for Elledge to take the lead and the flag . Rick won the next one and his three-one score was good enough fo r sec ond overall m on ey . Todd Stewart was back in the winner's circle again and he worked for every bit in the 125 B class. After one lap of the first mota Todd was second behind Ed Josties (Yam). On lap four Todd took the lead and put two slow riders between himself and J osties then went on to win th e nine-lap mota. When th e gate fell again T od d settled in third behind Ro land Miller (Han) and Eric Burrough (Han). Todd slipped into second on lap two and rode on Miller's fend er for three m or e laps before takin g • over the lead . Resul ts in Resul ts Section. Th e Junior division was a solid first in the form of Clay Watson. Th at kid migh t be fifth in the first tum but on the next one , he's in first and stays there. He moves to th e Expert class next race. There was one 25 0 class with .15 riders and th e first lap was a bit hard on th e nerves. Fran k Narzisi shot to first in mo ta one wi th Wendell Diltz and Gen e Kronbe rger righ t behind. Narzisi was n't to be ca ugh t th a i mota b ut in th e second, Big John Broadwater go t o ff th e line lik e he was shot fro m a can n o n . He cam pe d in Nu mber One un til the second tum, going too wide an d allowing Diltz to slip under. Narzisi was right behind bu t not fo r lon g . . . he took over first on th e second lap. Medfo rd's Gary Wilkes wasted no time in the first mota of the Open Seniors. He was first off the line, first through the h az ards and flat moved to win by a looong way. Th e second mota he shot out first but Skeet Hise was set on revenge and he got by Wilkes, yelling his way through berms and turns to a • first place. Results in Results Section.
