By Lane Campbell ACTON, CAL., AUG. 24 Robin Tolleson (Hon), having won the first round of the ATA Kids Trials Championship was a heavy favo rite to bag this round, too until late this week. Bare hours before the tria1 he endoed his bicycle returning from an errand and took 47 stitches in his right knee. Still, he came to ride, with his leg totally immobilized in a knee cast, hoping to salvage a few p oints in spite of the handicap. Instead, he won again. With a near-miraculous series of stiff-legged saves and/or one-legged trials riding, Tolleson wo n the "A" clas s, even cleaning the dreaded "mud section" first time out. His 36-point total was eclipsed only by Derreck Bernard's 35 in winning the " B" class. Carl Astr om (Hon ) an d Chris Dow (Han) were th e next two ItAn riders in a trial that h ad so me of the littler competitors waili ng : "What are they trying to do, kill us?"
