Simi Valley European Scrambles There were several riders who won both of their respective races this weekend. Mitch Mayes won both of the 400 Expert races, Rick J on es did the same in the Op en Juniors, Trudy Beck was first tweeter in both of 'h er races, Cordis Brooks did a repeat of last week's perfo rman ce, winning both 250 races, Ramon Lowe and George Walker were firs t Oldtimer s in their races, an d Mark Granger won both of the Open Novice races, Jeff Kaplan wins one side of a dual every time there is one held, wi th this wee kend being n o exceptio n. Kaplan won the 175 Ex pe rt/Junior clas s h an ds down, ahead o f D. C. Williams and Max Eddy. Tom Kelly also w on both of his races in th e 175 J unior clas s, beatin g Randy Willi ams fo r th e clas s win. Bob Te rrazas was first Oldti mer Expert, wi th Fred Haw kins doing the same in the Junior clas s. Brent Wallin gsfo rd foll owed Cordi s in for the second spot in the 250 Expert . clas s, wi th Bruce Ogilvie third . Tony Greu'ves and his Yamaha were the first to get the checkered . flag in the 250 Junior class, with Ken t Miller and Roger Toubeaux following in his dust. Earl Carpenter was first Oldtimer Junior, with Lynnette Zuber doing the same in the Women 's Division. Doug Wmchell was left to battle it out for second in the Open Expert class with Bill Saltzman. If Saltzman went as fast during his race as he did in the pits afterwards, he migh t . have caugh t Winchell. Mike Edmo nso n was second Open Junior while Steve Shook,riding with a blown shock on his mono, was third. Ross Massey was first ancient Open Junior. Bruce Ogilvie had no real competition in the Trail Expert/Junior class, winning easily. Marc Cartwright dropped from first in the Capistran o race to second on the Simi side. Chris Weber, after his bad luck in his first race came back to take third the second time around. "Little Joe" Lockhart blew off all of the other Trail J uniors on his Pen to n , after trying for several weeks to win a Euro pean Scrambles. J an Leh otan . and Ed Faulkner were so far beh in d Lockhart, they might have th o ught they were battling for first, when actually they were fighting it out for second and third. Roge l Kiefer was second to Granger in the Open Novices, after passing John Schehermann who led the Novices around the first lap, the n trie d and dropped back to fmish third. Bob Webb picked up the win in the Open Oldtimers. Bryan Breker's brother, Goat, has been picking up a few wins in the 250 Novice class the last few weeks, with the Simi Valley race being another one. Brian Wrigh t and Mark Feverstein finished second and third 250 Novices, with F.G. Patterson being the first OIdtimer. Mike Tinanero foil owed Jim Graz ian o in for second in the 175 Novice class, ahead of John Tobin. Don Osborne picked up first Oldtimer in this class, with Patsy Matus doing the same in the Women 's Division . Craig Boe sen, Larry George, Bill Nielsen, were the first three in the Trail Novices, with Gene Farvour first Senior and Lisa Christensen first lady. Mr. Bennington lost his German Sh ort Hair Poin ter out at the races thi s weekend and wo uld appreciate any in formation on th e returning o f his long time fa mily pet. The dog is liver and white, spotted, and is not trained for hunting. After owning the dog for nine years, Mr. Bennington cannot imagine him running away.
