Whe n the temperature goes up and the
track dries out, the holes start
appearing. That was the big tro u b le at
Bakersfield where it has been at least 98
degrees for days. The holes took out
several of the top riders, putting new
names in the main events.
Home town racer Grant Saylers rode a
great race in the second d ivision Main,
driving the crowd crazy with delight.
His victory was number three and this is
just his first season.
Bruce Penhall str eaked to the lead in
th e Handic ap Main, riding in and ou t of
the holes lik e a motocross racer, nearly
losing it several times, but at the finish
line it was Penhall, Steve Bast and St eve
Nutter.
