20-year-old Kent Howerton took the AMA 250cc National
Motocross Series' point lead by winning two of th e fi rst
three events. Kent won the series' opener at Hangtown
. and the series third event at Cast le Point Park, Kentucky,
where he placed second in the first rno ro and first in the
second moto for t he overall wi n. The Team HusqvarnaPennzoi l-Howert on combination proved the most dur -
able prevailing in temperatures approaching 90 degrees.
