High Sch ool motocross q ua lifie rs, and many ride rs co ntinue on their winni ng way s each week. 20 Long Beach J ordan High 's Steve Mo ore capt ured his second consecu tive overall victo ry in th e 12 5 Junio r divis ion, as th e Long Beach Honda rider defeated one o f the fin est fields of 125 Juniors at Asco t this season. In th e opening m o to o f th e 125 J uniors, Carso n High 's J im Gallagher (Ho n ) grabbed the lead with Moore and Rod Davidson in ho t pursu it. However, Gallagher dropped his Ho nda as he came through the ponds, and Davidson gained the top position with Moore right on his rear wheel. Moore then moved by th e Kawasaki-mounted Davidson on th e th ird round o f the 12-lap moto. Mo ore was ab le to ho ld on th e lead fo r the rest of the first moto with David son pl acin g second followed by Don Huizing (Hon ) and Marty Smith (Ho n). Gallagher, after pla cing seventh in th e first rnoto , came bac k strong in the second moto, as Moore crashed on the fo urth circuit and Gallagher was able to take the lead. Huizing, riding for South Torrance High, was also able to move by Moore to take the second position with Moo re running in the n umber three slot. All three rid ers con tinue d their battle through ou t the seco nd 12· lap race, with Gallagher ta king the win followe d by Huizing, Moore, an d Sm it h. In th e fina l 12-lap moto for th e 125 Juniors, Gallagh er was again on t he mo n ey , as he gra bbed t he lead fro m th e star t an d never lo o ked ba ck. Howeve r, Moore placed sec o n d in th e th ird moto , and took home his second straigh t over all victory in the 125 Junior class at Ascot.
