After three miles. the c o urse had made a circle and came over a h ill , down, and t hrough a silty sweeper befo re going out fo r th e rem ainin g six an d a half miles. As the lead er s enter ed th e swee pe r, Conroy mad e a mo ve fo r the lead an d was rudely deposit ed on his wallet. Bowman passed Breker on the second loop and a loop later Breker dropped out with a flat front tire. Conroy d rop pe d out at th e same tim e with a bro ken moto r mount bolt. Phil Stumbo (250 CZ ) had gotten a good start, ran t hird early o n an d to o k over second when Bre ker 's tire came up flat . At the finis h Bo wm an was well ahead of Stumbo, who in tu m had good lead over Vo n Peterso n (250 CZ) . Pete rson took firs t Am ateur honors.
