This year it might better have been called International because British Columb ia was very well represented in the two day event Three foot brass, four fo ot k id, mile wide grin . Masters class heads o ut t o thrash the d usty track. Joe McKenzie (54 ) Mastered 'em all. along with clubs from California and Washington. Monday was also a Regional minibike contest. There was a 50 year age span between five year old Dan Dawson, the youngest, and 55 year o ld Glen Houser, a truck driver competing in his third race. The worst of MX was well represented by the promoter who has only had a year to prepare for the race an d couldn't q uite get ready. The local club spent many hours over the last two months attempting to get the track in running condition while his main effort was the .outstretched hand - palm up. When his water truck broke a week before the race the club rented their . own truck to be on the safe . side. Sure enough - his sat unrepaired with the rest of his defunct equipment. The final crushing blow came Sunday when the rented truck threw a rod and no parts could be found. Finally, the promoter made a useful move when he faced the angry group of riders demanding their money back Sunday nig ht. He acquired a tractor from a neighbor (who was away fro m h ome) so they could drag the water truck around during the night to prepare for Monday's race. Oregon's team led the Old Timers tearn competition in points Sunday with Washington running second. Monday's racing was for individual honors fo r the Old Timers and the finals for the Minibikers. Chris Selnes (Hon) led the Junior Mini riders for the two days. Eddie Wagstaff (Yarn) came from behind to take the lead 100 feet from the flag -in the second mota to take top In termediate ho n o rs. As the dust problem got worse with every race, the Old Timers decided to rut!. only two motos rather than the scheduled three. Bert Hill (Mai) from Nanaimo, B.C. led all the way in both Novice races. Oregon 's Al Clapp (Hus), rode through the entire Amateur pack to squeeze out Roy Hall (Hus) from Burnaby, B.C. in the second mota and take top hono rs. When the Experts left the line in the first mota, Elmer Rei mer from Bandon, Oregon sat with a dead Yamaha. Vern Arno r of Surrey, B.C. led all the way to the one lap flag before Reimer caught rum. They spen t most of th at last lap side by side but Reimer los t it for a brief moment an d settled fo r a second. Arnor led the second mo t a also but Reimer got by this time and held the edge in the po int tie. Joe McKenzie (Mai) of Wenatchee, Washington became the Master of Masters when he led all the way without a threat from anyone. Sta n Johnson (Hus) rode his first race in the Masters class and finished a st rong second. • Results in the Results Section. Mini Intermediate win ner Ed d ie Wagstaff.
