Moural started to wh ittle away Dietz's lead a few feet every lap . Soon the two riders were wh eel-t o-wheel. Dietz wo uld get the inside line in the co rners and be able to pull Moural down the straight but Moural would not give up . Lowell would stick his front ti re under Dietz's back tire hitting the frame as they went through the corner b ut Dietz held his ground and went on for the win. Cliff Hylton led the 250 Experts through the first corner with Paul Quiring (Bul) and Shane Scott (Yam) in second and third. Scott moved in to second passing Q uiring d o wn the bac k straight a nd set afte r Hylton. Meanwhile, Jim Hub bar d had moved in to thi rd a fte r a po or start. Hylton ridi ng in pe r fec t co ntrol con ti n ue d to lead while J im H ub bard tried to ge t by Sco tt for secon d . But ti me ran o ut, Hy lt o n wo n with Sco tt h ol di ng off Hub b ard. . Mike Hall had his win s tre ak br oken to night by Paul Meyer. Hall go t a tr em endo us hol e sh o t and led th e pack of Novices thro ugh t h e fi rst corner but Hay den' Campbell lost it co ming do wn the back straigh t causing a re st art. Paul Meyer t oo k the lead a t the restart with Hall ge tting a bad sta rt in fo ur th . Meyer bu ilt u p too lar ge a lea d fo r Hall to overco me. Hall settled for second with Bruce Kn ight hanging o n fo r th ird. Meyer lo oked like he was out for his second win o f th e ni gh t as h e led th e 250 Handicap for all b ut th e las t two laps. Bill Zir kle (Yam) wh o had been putting pr essure on Meyer finall y go t the lead and went o n for the win and h is second tr ophy of the nigh t (also sec ond 250 J un ior).
