Sowell upset Ron Moore and DeWayne Keeter to win his Heat and get set for th e Trophy Dash . Then Sowell, on his Dad tuned Triumph. su prised Hockie, Moore and LaPlante and led the Trophy Dash from start to finish for his first Expe rt m o ney win. Devon became t he seventh straight di fferen t r ider to win t he Das h in the last seven wee ks. But a fter a big kiss fro m the Trophy girl an d hu g and a ha nds hake-f ro m his Dad , Devon the n went o ut an d cras hed in t he Main eve n t, trying to stay with Hockie, Moore an d Morrison. Hockie too k th e lead from Moo re on th e second lap with a two ri de r turn shot t hat found him co ming fr om third to firs t past Sowell and Moore. Fro m then on it was Ho ckie fo r his second Main event win of th e season. Mo rriso n, who was bidd ing for his fourth win of t he year , raced it o ut wi th Moore until the final lap s, then th e engin e so ured and he was lucky to hang on fo r third place. f'or Nicholas it was his sec o n d week of co meback actio n. He topped the 250cc Pros with no real co n ten tio n from anyone. Ru b ly made up-for it by bringing off a thrilling co me back win o f th e 500cc Pro s. He had won th e fir st two whil e Dan Barnes . als o on a CZ, h ad taken second. This meant he ne eded a sec o nd in th e fin al to insure the victory over Barnes. Dan jumped to th e lead an d Rubl y was holding sec ond. Then it happened. Rubl y pulled off the tr ack and went to work on his bike to get it re-fired. The pa ck pulled away. Curtis Lessel (Mai) took over sec o n d. The last nag appeared and R ubly had closed in to fourth . Half a lap remained when he made a move for third , made it. and almost sim ultan eo usly, Lessel went down. Rubly shot by to regain secon d and he took the Overall win ! An incr edi ble race and i t form ed a perfect endi ng to a most unusual night at Ascot. Results in the Results Sect ion .
