Buddy Parriot got into wobbles on his Yoshimura Kawasaki t hat would put the fear of God into a spectator. T he thi ng looked like it had a mushy banana for a frame backbone . With al l the power the t hing had , it must have taken some real hair to ride it. Bruce Talbot charged his white BMW into the lead of the Cafe Racer class and buil tit up eve ry lap from the start. T he biggest duel in the class was fo r second, third, and fourth between John Small, Lester White, and Mike Arrito la, all on various trick configurations of Ho nda 750s. The battle went back and forth, with the trio being close to side by side into a lot of the turns. They boomed across the line in the order above. Mary Farrow (Kaw 350) was the only lady racing today. Racing in the Cafe class for the second time in her life, Mary bettered her finishing record. Her first race saw her take sixth - only five others were racing. Today Mary took ninth, with ten people racing. Your reporter was the tenth racer. The 125 GP race was hotly co ntested between Mike Baeder (Yam) and Pedro Gallinucci (Yam). Mike took the lead into the first tum, followed by Pedro, with Philippe de Lespinay (Yam) in about fifth. In the biggest dice all day Baede r and Gallinucci went at it wheel to wheel 22 seconds ahead of third place, w hich by the fourth lap was de Lespinay. Coming out of the chicane Gallinucci got inside Baeder and stole the lead , only to lose it going into turn ni ne . The intense dueling put the pair 43 seconds ahead of third before the finish, wi th Baeder 10 seconds ahead of Gallin ucci on the last straight of the last lap. They had a streaker, and for a change a good looking one, too. A young lady clad in natural leathers and mounted on a two wheel mote-streak m achine bo b bl ed down the return road from the pits towards the tower. Amazingly, the announcer seemed to know what he was doi ng. I guess thinking that's amazing is a sign of having gone to too m an y AMA mo t ocrosses. • Res ults in the Results Section. Dice of the Day Award was jo intl y presented to Mike Baeder and Pedro Galli nucci in the 125 GP contest.
