People are not equipped to shift emotional gears that quickly. The result too often is that the focus of both holiday! becomes blurred in a ten-day round of parties, rum drinks, rich foods, and extravagant spending. Motorcyclists this year are in particular need of a period of evaluation and contemplation. Motorcycling as a sport this coming year will either establish itself on a permanent basis or start down the trail to extinction. Which it will be, I don't know, but I do know that the motorcyclists themsleves will largely determine the course. As a sport, mo torcycling.is not unlike the gun hobby. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with guhs and it can certainly be argued that the development of any kind of skill is worthwhile. However, it seems that an uncommonly high degree of judgment is needed, along with stiff self control and many other personality traits more often associated with gods than men in order to avoid
