move, the pegs down, and back just a hair. The mods make a world of difference. You should see them on your stocker soon. The front brake is still a problem. especially if you like using a lot of front brake. The REH forks are just average, going from stiff to OK, as they get broken in. There are, of course, those who think they're just fine. The Girlings at the rear could be set up just about any way you want them for personal style and feel. Tyran's strengths are two-fold: speed and handling. Now, if those two things are important to you. you should try one. I t is fast because the basic engine has lots of HP in stock form and even more potential, because the choice of pipes gives it another speed boost, and because its honest weigh tis 190 Ibs. The plastic version will be closer to 175 Ibs. in racing trim. It handles because, as far as we can tell, the frame is right and the weight's in the correct places. The Tyran dominates in the corners. It will turn inside just about anything, slides controllably and predictably and just generally goes through changes in direction surely and rapidly. It really likes to do corners. As for the 3.00x21 and 3.50x18 Dunlops, you either find 'them satisfactory or you don't. We will predict that the bikes will corner even better with some Yurpeen rubber front and a rear, but keep it a 3.50x18 on the back. That's what the Tyran likes. With the low seating position and (stock) high footpeg position on the outside, you can lay the Tyran way over whether on a sweeper or berm wi th total confidence. The tractable powerband on the Sachs "B" and the six speeds (which do not normally include as many neutrals as most moto-wags would have you believe) help keep it buzzing at the right output into, through and out of the turn. If the brakes were just right, it would be well nigh unbeatable - by anything - through curvy sections: tight tracks and the like. It is so outstanding in this area that the rest of the performance, good and bad, kind of fades back out of your mind as you ride it. The most obvious feature, the skinny alloy gas tank, was liked by some, disliked by others, appreciated for its .. Another tank will be provided on the enduro version. Anyhow, it's just a container for pre-mix, yes? There is still some debate as to whether this is, in fact, the ill-fated Penton Trials bike with number plates and knobbies added on. It sure looks like the same machine. A competitive market is for the most part, a healthy market. That's one good reason that Mitsubishi's attempt to market motocrossers in the U.S, motocrossers that handle - should be welcomed by the potential buyer-racer. Another is that his machine may provide the combination of handling and engine that fits you best. It's also about the only way you're going to get £,C.
