October 9,1973 Page 36 .. e a, there was Baz, and he sent unto riderkind cynical sayings of the earth, fards of the sea, and fouls in the air. And man wondered what manner of diety be Baz, and he sent unto Him an offering, that perhaps he might knoweth of and shareth in the manna of life, that ascribed to attainment of Baz's box. And Baz reareth up in fury, and he sayeth, "Thou hast thou much 'nerve, knave. that thou hast desireth of Baz's box, that tho'u mightest attain my bread and manna of life, that thouest might upsurpth my position in the cycle of the universe, and yet thou he a mere peon." And man felt shame and ~orrow, and begged forgiveness, saying that he only aspired to fill his emptiness and end his hunger, and obtain manna for his effort's. Once more Baz reared, but being good and being great, Baz was kind, and offered advice and consolation for man. "Eyes are very ordinary," sayeth Baz, "potatoes have eyes, dogs have eyes, hippos have eyes. 1 need something un ordinary to make my.page work. Think Bizarre". And man slunk away to do ordinary things and speak to ordinary, mere men, in the search for manna, and man attained manna on a small scale. And it came to pass after two seasons that Baz was no more sending wisdoms unto man in the accustomed manner, and that he- had taken his cynical sayings, fards, and fouls away from mere riderkind, blessing instead a much· specialized form of life known as a moto'xkind, and man was sad. And it came to pass after two more seasons that man was taken up into the former household that was the fountainhead of Baz, and was saved from the evil of the infinite boxcar. And the rightful holder of Baz's old position and power, but not his glory, came to man, and lamented the blankness of a page. And man, not knowing what he doeth, lept into the void, and fUled it, and sang with joy. "At last," thought man, "a use for myoid photo file." And man was happy. And a moon came and moon went, and man was overcome with shame and consternation, for a tootsie of long ·standing reminded him of whenst he came, and Baz's first rear of anger. .. and man knew that he had, indeed, a lot of nerve, and he was sorry, for no mere man could ever be the diety that was. . Man felt bad that he had taken the page that was Baz's and dwelled in Baz's home. And man thought and thought, and when he did, he thought well. And a voice said to him, "Feel not quilt, man, for thou hast gotten every bit of what thou hast deserved." And he. knew it was Baz. -------------------------------, DEPT. SUB. P.O.
