'" . N AMe North at "- .... M PAY WHAT YOU WAnt! Saddleback '" ..; ~ N > '5 ..., en New & Used Motorcycle & Accessory Auction by Scott Heidbrink IRVINE, CAL., July 8 - Tbe new YZ Yammies are turning out more and more, with Jei Harriott, regular CMC Expert bringing out his Simi Yamaha sponsored bike to take top honors in the 250 Expert class, and in doing so, • trouncing the 500 Experts too. Recen t1y , J e f h as been riding everything under the sun, including a five speed CZ, and a VR Montesa, but Jef likes his Simi Yamaha YZ the best. Now thatJef has latched up with this pair (Simi and the Yammie) he looks like young Roger DeCoster. In the first moto, Jef beat everybody (the Experts were combined today) including Mid-Valley rider Tom Claire. The second moto Jef got a little tired and Ie t Claire and Randy Berkely get by, but in tbe last moto, J ef re ally flew, with he and Claire really moving away from everybody (sort of like Marty did the night before). Finally on the last lap, Claire decided that Jef deserved the win and cooled it for ..econd place. Overall, in the 250's, Jef won it, followed by Bill Conroy and Ron Bandy. Claire and BerkeIy took one-two honors in the 500's. John Wozniak won the intermediate end of the 500 class, with sore-ankled Clyde Ross taking second. This was the last weekend to see ole Clyde on his CZ, as he wm have acquired a new 360 YZ Yamah a by the- time this is published. It seems that Harriott (250 Expert winner) and Clyde are good friends, so it looks like these two will both be terrors to the top Experts very soon. In the 250 Beginner race, Harriott's younger brother, Joey took third on his five-speeder CZ, being beaten ollt by Mark Lauzon and Bill Haney. In t)1e 125 In termediates, AMC regular, Fredo Rodil decided to come out and see what he could do for his Cycle House sponsor, and brought home a second. It seems that Fredo and his brother, Cesar, both sponsored by Cycle House, are starting to get back into racing a bit more' seriously; and are becoming major threats in their respective classes. John Dickenson won the race, winning all three motos. After last week's hassles, this week's 100 Intermediate class race went off without a flaw. Again Jeff Ward, on his Mission Honda XR750 won it, followed by Mike Lasker, on' his mother-sponsored Penton. Mike seems to have the set-up that most riders are faced with, parental sponsorship. But Mike has it a little easier with such a beautifu'l mother acting as his sponsor. 3: w z W ...J \.J >- 0 SATURDAY JULY 21-10AM SHARP That's Right, Owners Dom Capozzi & Monte Montgomery Are Cleaning Out Their Shop & Letting You -.
