Kerker, Manley , ~hare 'Honors At Road Race - George Kerker and Jack S1mmons continued their close rivalry here Sunday at Orange County Raceway. Once again these two Norton riders thrilled the crowd wlth their spectacular duels 10 the 500-0pen Grand Prix and Open Production races . Kerker won the P r oduction race alter was able to get around S1mmons who later dropped out of the race. Then, 10 the G.p. race for big bikes Simmons and Kerker were again baW!ng for first unt11 B1ll Manley was able to get around both of. them to take the wln on his Nortonl 'Ibis race was begun wlth a llve englne start and there was a bit of a pll eup at being led by Slmm ons, George George Kerker the first turn. 'Ibis same thlng occurred 10 another race previous to the Open G.P • All day long the races were hot con_ tested. In the newly begun " Thumper " class it was a battle all the way between three riders wlth Tony Murphy taklng the victory on a Nor ton Manx. Th1s race had notblng but " thumper s " 10 1t which 'made the racing all the more 1oterestlng. Jim Manning, president of the AFM stated that it loterest 10 this class keeps on they wlll continue running it. The Sidehacks once again put on a real crowd pleaser of a race. Hummer and Gulbronsen wlth their beautltully prepared Spor ts te r powered rig. The Lightweight GoP saw Collo Jones jumpt ao an intial lead on his 175cc Honda only to sutter a mechanical malfunction that dropped him back later, though he still won his class. Steve Froschaver got first overall on a 125cc Yamaha, but not alter a battle wlth B1ll Cleghorn. • In the ?5Occ GoP Mike Lane was the victor on a Yamaoo.
