Jan. 4, 1970 - An IBM listing of rider, machine, class and riding number greeted 684 riders in CERA ENDURO 'I' . The 1970 Enduro Season has started with a comparatively easy (as advertised) run. Starters from Southern California, the Bay area, San Diego, Catalina, Nevada and Arizona competed f or Enduro points and 295 finished within the set time limits. The So. Calif. Trials Assoc. (SCTA) arrived in numbers and proceeded to dominate m ost classes. Dave Ekins SCTA member, was the over all winner: He lost only 3 points. The starting area, with adjacent service stations and a restaurant was a welcome sight in the .below f r eezing weather. Anyone who has ever used outside facllities in 30 degree temperatures w1ll attest to that. All who started enj oy ed a varied course, well marked, but not without a few problems for CERA officials, as someone apparently enjoyed removing r ibbon and re-mountedlng arrows, all of which were corrected without mtshap, and things proceeded well as the temperature " soared" to 48 degree in mi d-day . A bare minimum points wer e lost bY class winners, attesting to the ease of the course that was enjoyed fully by all who participated.
