At 6: 01 a.m. Saturday tbe first of tbe six rider groqps was on tbeir way. From Pearblossom tbe trail followed apowerUoe road and tben turned nortb to Hi Vtsta and tbe first gas stop. After fuelIng tbe sebedule riders headed for blgbWlIY 395 and raopara1lel to it until reaehtug Four Corners. From here they looped east of tbe blgbway, passing by CuddeYback Lake and iDto Red Mountain for luoeb. After 1uoeb tbe course made a loop to tbe •southeast, passing tbe otber side of tbe lake and circUog back to Red Mouota1D agalo. After Red MouotaiD only 51.2 tiring miles stood between tbe rider s and SaturdaY's floish at Ridgecrest. SuDday's course led soutb, back to Red Mouotaio. and tben doubled bade nortb to JDyokern for a ten-m1Dutegas stop. From 1IIJokero tbe riders worked tbelr way soutb passing to tbe east of Red Roek Canyon and stopping for lunch at tbe Wqon Wheel at the lotersectionofHighway 14 and Randsburg Road. 1be afternoon section angled southeast back to Four Corners and then followed much of SaturdaY's first section iD to the finish. CAL., MAY 31. 1969!- Repeat winners took almost all the gold at the Marysville 'IT Saturday night.. Jerry W1llls, Vic Krill, Melvin Byers and RODDie Gonella continued' their domination of these 'IT races. John Sassmah dueled wi th Krill for a while and Charley Fairchild rode pegoio-peg with Byers for a few laps but the favorites went on towin, Carl Crank took the 250 Expert event but had to fight off Stan Stanton and Garry Lozano. Fi ve sidehack.s showed up and the Sparks, Nevada team of Gene Bass and Tennessee Bick· erstaff took a first place after trying for several weeks. Dennis Dickerson won tile 650 Amateur main for the tbiId week in a row on his Triumph. A special sweepstakes event saw an expert. amateur and novice finish one-two-three. Don Simmons.
