Three Men Hit The Trail-The Oregon Tra.iI Spill-A-Thon Ali Marysville TT ~ By Dale McKinnon ~ MARYSVILLE, Cal.. FIn! U riders went down at the start of the 20C class and only one was able to continue. Don Gentwi took no chances and got out in front as if the plague were after him Three Southern Call1orn1a men are on their way to retrace a part at the Oregon Trail on 150cc motorcycles. Ed Craven, his son Ed Jr., and Dennis Crouse set out Sunday from Torrington, Wyoming and followed one at the main westward routes used by pioneers. The 500 miles of trail the men plan to cover twists across rugged Wyoming countryside, goes across the Continental Divide, and crosses the same river nine times. The Cravens are from san Clemente and Crouse lives in Redondo Beach. Crouse got the idea for the ride from an article in a Wyoming outdoors magazine which described the traillUld pointed out It badn't used for the last ninety years. Motorcycles for the ride were furnished by the importers of American Ea&ie. The men plan to finish tbeir ride in Fort Bridpr, tbe western most point in Wyo.mtne. d to take the event. TIle closest race of the night was in the 125 class. Vic Krtll and Ken Snider got off the line together and neither was able to eet more than a fewfeet in front of the otIIer until Krill fell.
