The only salvation , for the Eastern . r iders came the night before when Nixon won the short track over a field of unknownNovice riders and a few name Experts on borrowed machines. Amateur Mark Brelstord was the fastest qualltier but blew the Jimmy Odom- sponsored machine on the starting line for the heat r ace. The Lincolo oval is one of the most high banked tracks in the Midwest and Nixon and the boys put on an excellent show under the lights. The promoters, Jim Adams and Jerry Biskup, were both well satisfied with their first time effort and the crowd voiced a loud approval for another try at National TT racing next year.
