In each Instance he was hassled by point leade r De Wayne Keeter and Chuck Jones , both BSA-mounted, before sbaking off the oppost tion and salling on to the checker. For the last two Friday nights at AsCot Park, June 7 and 14, Mel Lacher and his Harley-Davidson have won the Trophy Dash and the Expert Main Event. This gives the San Di ego star three IS-lap haIfmile feature victories in a row, but they didn't come easy. . Sev eral Expert Main Ev enter s were co nspicuous by their absence a t the J une 14 race. Albert Gunter, riding Shell Thoot's Royal Enfield, made only three practice laps before the engine expired and he was olit for the night. Jim Nicholson will be out for a longer period of time. He r eported June 11 to do the deed for Uncle Sam and Is currently at F ort Ord, as Is Expert #IOx Johnny Isaacs. Nicholson, who only bad two weeks aboard the potent C.R. Axtell BSA, was disappointed indeed at l eavi ng such a good ride, and Axtell has decided to park the machine rather than find another pilot.
