Fee The killer storm that dumped eight inches of rain on the Los Angeles area, Sunday, November 19th, also Idlled the turn-out for the Jasper's M.C.'s first Poker Run. Only 80 riders braved the soaking rain to sign up for the one-day run at the Jasper's Club House In Ontario. Mud and rock slides in the mountains and flooded roads In the low-lands made the Jasper's change their route, not at the last minute, but atter some of the riders bad left the start and were already on the route. The original route took the riders northwest from Ontario and then east through the foothills to Lytle Creek and south to Riverside, back to Corona, winding up at Prado park just north of Corona. Faced with a major re-routing and many of their alternate streets closed with high water, they sent most of the riders by the most direct route; east on Mission and south on Archibald to Scottie's Family Restaurant in Corona Plaza. Throughout the morning, the Jasper's enjoyed the close cooperation of the Ontario Police who Passenger: Sharyl Bond Soan Mason Kris Korock Troy Sldnner won the sweepstakes and the Toppers took the trophy for the largest club present. Cries of "f1X" arose from the crowd when young Robert Sk1llman drew lucky tickets for merchandise awards and picked tickets held by both of bls parents, Lonnte and DIane SIdllman. .Jack Ltndstrum of the Married Wbeels ib:. woo a gift certificate and was given his choice of the last two rematntng envelopes. Choosing the thickest, he was walking away when one of the Jaspers woke up and asked to inspect the "thick ooe." Sure enough, Jack had all five turkey cert1ficates that were to be distributed to those wIIo bad previously won them. (The best laid plans.•.etc.) Jaspers M.C. members figured that the Inclement weather would cost their club over $100. Another casualtY of the "Killer Storm." Passenprs and cal solo winners with cold. Members of the Jaspers M.e. display their trophies after a raln-saoked run. kept them informed of the escalating road closures. The field events which bad been planned for Prado Park were scratched and dripping cyclists shed their sodden coats and shoes to warm up at Scottie's with free coffee. When most of the riders bad checked In, the Jaspers served a delicious spaghetti dinner with an Italian salad that was catered by Scotty himself. Promptly at 2 p.m., Bob Shaw, President of the club, started awarding the Thanksgiving turkeys. Sharon MCCall, Herman Williams, Ana Estrada, E.R. sewrmeyer and Judy Klock were the lucky winners. While the poker hand winners were receiving their gold, a downpour resoaked some of the riders and most of the Jaspers.
