•••THE WEBCODAKA:
38 riders showed up Saturday, May Zl, at Cycle-Land Speedway,
near Chico, to go Oattracking and participate in a new event - the
scratch dash.
First place winners in each. class
were given five-yard handicaps for
each win. In the scratch dash, the
riders with the greatest handicaps
are given even starts.
Winners of the new race (new to
Cycle-Land anyway) were Manfred
Heyrend of Oroville, who rode a
100cc Yamaha; Harold Toby of North
Highlands, who won the honors in
the 200cc dash. and Honda-mounted
Bob Vaughan. Oroville. who took the
trophy in the 250cc class.
There were three heats in the 100
class with the first and second place
winner of each Semi also earned the
right to take part in the eight-lap go.
Hodaka Pnts On the Heat
This Main was exciting and undecided the first two laps. after
which Tom Bruckenstein took the
lead on his Hodaka, followed by
Steven Goff of Oroville and Yamahariding Mainer Richards. also from
Gold Town, in third place.
All 200cc riders who finished the
heat rode in the Main. which Mike
Rockwell of Oroville took with ease
on his Honda 160. Right behind Rockwell was Toby on his Bultaco, and
closely on Toby's heels came Ted
Bard. Red Bluff. also riding a Honda
160.
The 250 Main was composed of
all racers finishing the heat. Steve
Lazarini, all the way from Martinez,
took the checkered on his Bultaco.

Oroville, Iuds the pack out of the lower
comer at Cycle Land Speedway.
Second and third place was hotly
contested all eight laps and only in
tbe final few feet did Vaughan manage to te.ke George Mccarty of Red
Bluff on the outside to take home a
second piece of brass.
