The track was fairly glassy for the first running, making the events of the day very exciting. There was some dust problem, however it will probably be overcome in the future. Since the opening of the Willows track was announced at Cycle land Speedway, Chico, Calif. the previous nigh t, many riders stayed overnight to race the following day. Tom VonSeggern on a Honda was the eventual winner of the 60cc Class followed by Greg Michaels and George Swanner both on hotly contending Hondas. Larry Bruckenstein on a Hodaka took the lead in the 90cc class from start to finish really showing his heels to the rest of the pack all the way! Phil Heyrand on a Yamaha was second, with Gene Freize on a Honda pulling in as a fast third. Bob Bagshaw's Bultaco wailed into first in the 125cc to 175cc class chased by Bob Vaughn on a Honda. The 200cc Class was won by ACA SHORT TRACK South Gate, Sept. 1, 19&& 100 TD Gary Calkins Yam 250 TD Rick Woods Duc 100 MAIN Keith Mashburn Dan Kelly Rick Woods Russ Robinson Randy Layne David Aldana Hon Hon Yam Yam Gil Suz 250 "B" MAIN DeWayne Keeter Mike spitzer SCo tt Gerhardt Michael Dwyer Carl Sjolund John ·Balaam Mon H-D Bul BSA Mon Yam 250 "A" MAIN Rick Woods Carl Cranke Ivan Oden Randy Layne Norm Elledge Keith Mashburn Duc Bul Hon Hon BuI Mon 50 MAIN Paul Wilde Steve Pederson Randy Layne MYrle Hamm Rick Woods Bill Potts Rick Hail:bt Yam Ben Hon Hon LIONS RESULTS Sept. 2, 19&& SUZ Yam Hon B-STREET: C-STREET: D-STREET: G-STREET: H- TREET: ICA SHORT TRACK Orange County, Aug. 31, 19&& Bruce Miller Don Bower Dave Allee Jeff Brown Bill Hardin Har Tn Hon Hon Yam 12.31-107 .27 13.37- 97.82 14.13- 92.49 18.02- ~9.49 22.63- 52.94 100 TD Russ Robinson Yam 250 TD Ivan Oden Hon 100 MAIN Russ Robinson Rick Woods Keith Mashburn Carl Cranke Marty Enlless Randy Layne IRWINDALE RESULTS Sept. 3, 19&& Yam Yam Hon Yam Hon fil TOP F EL: Leo Payne Har TOP STREET: Leo Payne Har TOP GAS: Bob Micbael Har A B C D E Har Tri Tri Han Yam 12.26-118.98 103.00 13.25-100.89 13.99- 92.00 13.75-102.50 Har Har BSA Tri Hon Suz 11.17-119.52 12.59-105.75 14..06- 96.67 13.74- 97.93 13.80-100.00 14.54- 87.53 250 MAIN Ivan Oden Keith Mashburn sal Acosta Bob Graver Eddie McGregor Rick Woods Hon Mon Bul Hon H-D Duc 50 MAl Randy Layne Rick Woods Bill Potts A-GAS: SOnny Raslawski B-GAS: M. Many of the nders that made the trip to this fine track told the officials that someone told them the event had been cancelled. The promoter informed Cycle News that no one connected with the event had ever put out that word so it seems that somebody doesn't want these races to be a SUccess. In the calendar listing for the next event, coming up on the seventeenth of September. a phone number will be listed and if anyone is in doubt about the races being held - call and find out for sure. • .. • • MALE OLO 1.
