to bring intensity at the prac-
tice track, but somehow hasn't
managed to translate that to the
same thing on race day, but he's
working on it.
AIR POLLUTION
A lot of racers at Anaheim 2 said
that the air quality inside The
Dome at America's Center, last
week in St. Louis, was atro-
cious. Some racers had what
seemed like asthma attacks
during/after the races, and
even mechanics struggled with
it. Specifically, Red Bull KTM's
Cooper Webb—who was sick
already with a respiratory illness
for the whole week before race
day in St. Louis—had an espe-
cially rough time getting oxygen
from his lungs to his muscles
during the racing inside the
dome, and it contributed to his
12th-place finish that night.
DAVALOS
Team Tedder/Monster Energy
KTM's Martin Davalos was deal-
ing with clutch issues on his
factory-backed KTM 450 SX-F
at the first couple rounds, but
he said that was addressed for
Anaheim 2. He also geared his
KTM taller, so he could race at
a lower rpm, and that seemed to
help a lot. He was fastest in the
first timed qualifying session of
the day at Anaheim 2 and quali-
fied ninth overall. He was much
more competitive this weekend
but crashes relegated him to
13th.
