IIIMY OWN RACE: struggle today for me, but I was able to ride smart, consistent, and things kind of went my way, and I ended up on the box." 1 COOPER WEBB 3RD 450SX "It was a much be er night tonight than last week," defending champ Cooper Webb said. "Eli, kind of all day, you could tell he was really clicking with the track, so I knew he was going to be good, and the same with Ken. They rode great all day, so I knew it was going to be a tough main event, but I put myself in a good situa on—I was about third the whole me—and me and Jason [Anderson] played cat-and-mouse a li le bit, and I kind of lost track of that lead group. But I put my head down and charged and made some me up at the end, and I was close there. I got third at the first round, but we were s ll pre y far back, so I felt like we were a lot closer now." 30 BRANDON HARTRANFT 3RD 250SX "I got off to a decent start, then shuffled back to about sixth and ran sixth for about half the main, and then [Chris an] Craig went down, and then I was in fi h behind Jus n [Cooper] and just kept following Jus n, and a couple SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3 / JANUARY 18, 2020 ANGEL STADIUM / ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA P62 After that, Tomac backed it down a notch and cruised to his first win of 2020, while Roczen held off defending champ Cooper Webb (Red Bull KTM) for second. "It was just believing in myself and finally riding good throughout the day," Tomac said. "Looking back now at Anaheim 1, that was just kind of a wash for us; I was just riding around back in 10th place. And last week was just not giving ourselves a chance at all with where I was on the start. Tonight, I wasn't right there on the start, but I was close enough to be in the fight, and I was really making up a lot of time in the whoops up until probably the cross flags there [halfway], and then it just got really hard. The whoops kept breaking down, and the 450s just absolutely pummel that track, so the last half was defi- nitely some management going on. And with two sets of whoops, and then turning into a dragon's back, that was really hard. That was a 250SX West winner Dylan Ferrandis (1) left a bruised and battered Geico Honda team in his wake. The 16-year-old Jett Lawrence (83) was on rails before coming off the tracks late in the race.
