Ducati Panigale V2 First Look
A
name change and a few subtle and not-so-subtle tweaks are the highlights for Ducati's baby
superbike. Now called the Ducati Panigale V2 and priced at $16,495, the machine that was
originally released back in 2016 is still powered by the 955cc Superquadro V-twin motor, that is now
Euro-5 compliant thanks to new exhaust and mapping. Ducati claims they've even managed to coax
an extra five horsepower and extra 1.5 lb-ft of torque out of it, which now measures at 155 horsepower
at 10,750 rpm and 76 lb-ft of torque at 9000 rpm, pushing a scant 338 pounds (dry) weight.
New is the use of the Bosch IMU and Cornering ABS, a new up-and-down quickshifter, plus traction,
engine brake and wheelie control. The TC system is Ducati's DTC EVO 2, which, the
company says, has been recalibrated for a smoother intervention.
On the chassis side, the Ducati engineers have employed a single-sided swingarm,
which, when combined with the new bodywork, makes it much more in line with the
2020 Panigale V4 range. CN
