Jeffrey Carver (Roof-Systems
of Dallas, TX/Indian of Metro
Milwaukee, Indian FTR750) and
Henry Wiles (Bandit Industries/
DPC Racing/Wilco Racing,
Indian FTR750). Kayl Kolkman
(Kolkman Racing/Uncle D,
Yamaha MT-07) filled out the
top 10.
AFT Singles
The 15-lap AFT Singles main
event saw last years' race win-
ner Ryan Sipes nail two perfect
starts. He pulled to a convinc-
ing win over AFT Singles points
alongside, I decided just to let
him go instead of risking a fight
and making a mistake. I'll take
third. We made up a bunch of
points."
Mees would finish almost
nine seconds behind the two
leaders but on the podium.
Bronson Bauman was alone
in fourth another three seconds
back. Vanderkooi was a solid
fifth just ahead of PJ Jacobsen
(Coolbeth-Nila Racing/Weiss
Racing, Indian FTR750), Rob
Pearson (RJ Performance/
Hite Trucking, Indian FTR750),
BUMMER FOR BRIAR
It was a tough night for current AFT
Twins points leader Briar Bauman
(Indian Motorcycle/Progressive Insur-
ance, Indian FTR750). Although he
was fast qualifier, a poor start in his
semi left him trying to make up time
when he tangled with Henry Wiles.
Bauman was able to remount and limp
home with an eighth-place finish to get
into the main. Wiles was forced to use
his provisional start to get in. In the
main, Bauman had climbed from the
back row to seventh and was challeng-
ing PJ Jacobsen for sixth when he hit
Jacobsen's rear wheel and fell again
in almost the same spot as last year.
Once again, he remounted but was
only able to complete two more laps
before having to call it a night.
GETTING TO THE POINTS
Bauman's problem, coupled with
Mees' strong outing, has closed the
gap in the AFT Twins points race. Bri-
ar's lead has shrunk to 12 points over
Mees, while Bronson has taken over
third but is 42 back. In the AFT Singles
points, Dalton Gauthier's strong
second-place finish allowed him to gain
some breathing room as Mikey Rush's
problems continue. Rush's 14th-place
finish dropped him to third behind Dan
Bromley. Bromley is 21 points down to
Gauthier and seven ahead of Rush.
WHEN GROUND ATTACKS
The less-than-ideal racetrack, the re-
sult of a heavy mid-day rainstorm, saw
a lot of riders hitting the ground. The
AFT Singles class was especially hard
hit with the track's jump biting quite a
few. Tanner Dean and Colton Smith
were early victims. Neither rider got
through practice.
Briefly...
Beach came from
behind to get the
win. One of his
victims along the
way was third-
place finisher
Jared Mees (1).
