FLAT TRACK AMERICAN FL AT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 11/AUGUST 4, 2019 BUFFALO CHIP CAMPGROUND/STURGIS, SOUTH DAKOTA P78 Jeff Ward (Monster Energy/ Medterra/Blackmore Ranch, KTM 450 SX-F), James Rispoli (El Tito/KC74 Tracking/Hudson Valley Motorsports, Yamaha YZ450F) and Hunter Taylor (Tacoma Motorsports/Hunter MFG, Honda CRF450R) were all battling over fourth. Even after a red flag on lap 10, the top five positions of Sipes, Gauthier, Bromley, Cose and Janisch remained unchanged until the last laps. Ryan Wells (Estenson Racing/Monster Energy, Yamaha YZ450F) had finished lap one in 15th position but had steadily moved forward and took full advantage of the restart to grab sixth. Passes during the last two leader Dalton Gauthier (D&D Cycles/Gobert Smash, Husqvar- na FC450) and defending AFT Singles Champion Dan Bromley (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing/ Roof Systems of Dallas, TX, KTM 450 SX-F). "I wanted this one really bad," Sipes said. "All I've thought about since I crashed at Spring- field in May was I should have won there, and now I have to win here. I did it, so I feel really good about it." Sipes, Gauthier and Bromley grabbed the top three posi- tions as Chad Cose (Parkinson Brothers Racing/Rod Lake Rac- ing, Honda CRF450R), Jesse Janisch (Roof-Systems of Dallas, TX/Yamaha, Yamaha YZ450F), IIIMY OWN RACE: 1 JARED MEES 3RD AFT TWINS "This is a cool place and great atmo- sphere, but I'm glad to get out of here. It is just a hard place to race; anything can happen as we saw tonight," said Jared Mees. "Early on, I was chasing Jarod (Vanderkooi), but the track was really hard to pass on, and I could see Jake get- ng away. Jarod had a problem, and I was able to get second. That was when I saw Briar had some kind of problem and was in the back. JD was really pressuring me, and when he got up alongside I decided just to let him go instead of risking a fight and making a mistake. I'll take third; we made up a bunch of points." 37 BRONSON BAUMAN 4TH AFT TWINS "I was up there in the mix for the first eight or ten laps. JD got into me pre y good in the first le -hander. It really set me back," said Bronson Bauman. "These bikes were working well tonight. I felt really strong. We're all about the same speed and stayed in the same posi on. It's hard to make up ground. It's hard to pass on a single-line track. It was like a train rolling around. It was front to the rear re, bumper to bumper. I think the track was somewhat unsafe. I'm not thrilled with how the track was prepped. I know Mother Nature rained on us, but there is a lot of money in equipment out there. We could have had a lot be er racetrack than what we had." Ryan Sipes scored a wire-to-wire win in the AFT Singles main.
